eBox Administrator - Managing eBox Users

This tutorial will show you how to Manage eBox Users.


Only eBox Administrators can create and manage users.
All user creation and management is done from the eBox Web Interface.

Create New eBox Users
In this example, we are creating a new user named Jane Doe.

 

Step 1: Login to the eBox Web Interface.

Click on the Management Console gear icon in the top right.

 

 

 

 

Step 2: On the dashboard, look under Users.

Click Add New User.

 

 

 

 

 

Step 3: Select Native User.

 

 

 

 

 

Step 4:  Complete the following fields:

A) Enter the user's first name
B) Enter the user's last name
C) Enter the user's email address
D) Set a storage limit for this user*

Recommended User Storage Quota Sizes:
eBox Plan One: 100GB
eBox Plan Two: 1000GB
eBox Plan Three: 0 (Unlimited Storage)

You can set the storage limit to whatever you like, up to your eBox plan's total usable storage.
If you are the only user and would like to allocate all the total usable space to yourself, please email our support team to request this.

Click CONTINUE

 

 

 

 

 

Step 5: Click CONTINUE

 

 

 

 

Step 6: Click COMMIT

 

 

 

 

Step 7: We will send a temporary password to your user's email address.
The first time they login, they will be prompted to change their password (as below).

 

 

 

 

Step 8: You will see your newly created user on your management console dashboard under Users. 

 

 


Delete eBox Users
In this example, we will delete a user named Jane Doe.

 

 

Step 1: From the eBox Web Interface, click on the Management Console gear icon in the top right.

 

 

 

 

Step 2: Under Users, select the user you want to delete.

 

 

 

 

 

Step 3: On that user's management page, click the Delete icon on the upper right.

 

 

 

 

 

Step 4: At this prompt, click YES

 

 


Change a User's Email Address
In this example, we will change the email address for Bob Doe.

Email addresses are the usernames for the users' accounts, and determine where their notifications and account related messages are sent.

 

 

Step 1: Click on the Management Console gear icon.

 

 

 

 

 

Step 2: Under Users, select the user for whom you want to change the email address.

 

 

 

 

 

Step 3: Under Account Information,
Click EDIT on the email address line.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Step 4: Enter the user's new email address in both boxes, then click Update

 



Change a User's Password
In this example, we will change the password for the user Bob Doe.

 

Step 1: Click on the Management Console gear icon.

 

 

 

 

 

Step 2: Under Users, select the user for whom you want to change the password.

 

 

 

 

 

Step 3: Under Account Information,
Click RESET PASSWORD on the email address line.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Step 4: Enter the user's new password in both boxes.
Click SUBMIT



An email will be sent to the user with their new password.

 



Suspend eBox Access for a User
In this example, we will suspend and resume (un-suspend) eBox access for the user Bob Doe.
Suspension is not permanent and can be used any time you need to halt a user's access to the eBox cloud. 

 

Step 1: Click on the Management Console gear icon.

 

 

 

 

 

Step 2: Under Users, select the user you want to suspend eBox access for.

 

 

 

 

 

Step 3: Under Account Information,
Click SUSPEND on the User is allowed to access line

 

 

 

 

 

Step 4: To resume (un-suspend) eBox access for this user, return to the same page.
Click RESUME on the User is suspended line

 

 

If a user enters an incorrect password enough times while trying to log in, their account may automatically be suspended.
